Watershed Workforce: Headwaters

August 6-7, 2025.
Tête Jaune Cache and Dunster, BC (Headwaters Region)

This two-day immersive experience is designed for youth (ages 15-20) interested in discovering career paths that support watershed health and their communities.

Day 1

Raft on the Fraser River with Stellar Descents Rafting, followed by a community dinner in Dunster.

Youth taking plant clippings at a Foodlands Restoration site in the Lower Fraser.

Day 2

Citizen science contributing to the BC Bee Atlas – identifying native plants and pollinators using iNaturalist, microscopes, nets, and specimens;

Fraser River health index and invertebrate sampling – Learning how to assess river health through aquatic species with the College of New Caledonia;

Cottonwood planting and invasive species removal – helping restore riparian areas.

This is a two-day, overnight experience, and a packing list with required supplies will be provided closer to the date of the trip. A small refundable deposit of $50 is required to confirm your spot, which will be returned upon participation*. If this refundable fee is a barrier, please let us know.
*Note: This fee will not be refunded to registrants who don’t show up or cancel less than 72 hours in advance.
