Foodlands: Bell Slough
Bell Slough Corridor is a Foodlands project within Sto:lo territory, where care for riparian habitat and cultural food systems is beginning to take shape over time.
Work in the corridor is unfolding through collaboration with Cheam First Nation, Skwah First Nation, the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition, Save the Bell Slough Society, and landholders along the slough. Early restoration activities include the reintroduction of native species, removal of invasive plants, and habitat suitability assessments for several species at risk.
This work is guided by relationships, local knowledge, and care for land and water. Knowledge shared by local Nations and those connected to this place helps inform how restoration takes shape.
As relationships deepen and conditions are better understood, restoration and stewardship in the Bell Slough corridor will continue to evolve in response to local priorities and opportunities.
