Position: Graphic Artist
Location: Home office. This is a remote position with preference given to applicants living within the Fraser Watershed. Applicants must live in Canada.
Position type: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Temporary 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension.
Pay: $25 – $30 per hour.

The Rivershed Society of BC has a vision of the Fraser Watershed being a resilient watershed with salmon, people and economies flourishing in rivershed communities. Rivershed’s mission is to connect, protect and restore the Fraser’s 34 riversheds – we call it Watershed CPR (Connect, Protect, Restore). We are looking for a skilled graphic artist with digital illustration skills who can conceptualize and create high-quality visual renderings of restoration projects and protected areas representing the location’s past, present, and future potential. Components that may inform the rendering include size/scale, location, ecosystem services enhancement, and limitations. The images need to convey the values and benefits of the projects and could be utilized in funding applications. Please see an example of the type of work we are looking for here.
Rivershed is a remote team that is located throughout, and outside, the Fraser Watershed. The candidate is required to have an appropriate home office set up and be comfortable working with virtual supervision. It’s preferred that the work is primarily conducted Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 5 pm, to be readily available for communications with key members of the Rivershed team.
Key Deliverables:
Develop graphic renderings of identified restoration project sites and protected areas within the Fraser Watershed. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Drafting of graphic renderings.
- Revising the graphic renderings based on feedback.
- Finalizing graphics (quantity, subject matter, file type, size).
- Creating a written brief detailing the projects.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability and familiarity with environmental systems to inform design, confident sense of ecological landscape aesthetic.
- Demonstrated experience in creating digital graphic renderings and using associated programs (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). Experience using Microsoft 365 Suite considered an asset.
- Organized, professional, and attentive, with strong communication and writing skills.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines while working independently.
