Fish farms
Threat of sea lice and viral infections during salmon migration are outlined in the Cohen report, but the report recommendations have not been acted upon. Recent changes by the Harper government include relaxing the regulation of the dumping of aquatic drugs and pesticides into wild fish habitat by fish farms.
- Implement the recommendations in the Cohen report on sockeye.
The Cohen Inquiry into the disappearance of Fraser River sockeye in 2012 provided a comprehensive and objective report that addresses a number of critical issues to sockeye and other wild salmon at a cost of $37 million. The Federal government has not implemented ANY of the recommendations, which is totally unacceptable and irresponsible.
