Megan Rempel, Sustainable Living Leadership Program graduate

Megan took part in the Sustainable Living Leadership Program in 2016. Since then, she has been supporting a new non-profit called re:FILTER, they work on providing solutions to plastic waste, as well as developing a micro-business focused on project management for grass roots organizations. Last year, Megan co-developed the Rivers Clinic for Environmental Leaders, a 3-day paddle program designed to connect Lower Fraser university students to each other and nature. Earlier this year, she co-designed a second regional program, the River Clinic for Empowered Youth, which is a 5-day leadership program in the Nechako wilderness. Megan believes in projects that bring together communities and foster connection with the health of our environment.

Erica Stahl, Sustainable Living Leadership Program graduate

Erica is a staff lawyer at West Coast Environmental Law. She is passionate about environmental and social justice, and loves helping communities access the legal and organizing tools they need to protect their health and environment. She joined West Coast in 2016 to head West Coast’s Environmental Legal Aid program, overseeing the Environmental Dispute Resolution Fund and providing summary advice to Indigenous peoples, community groups, and members of the public.

Erica came to West Coast from the Canadian Environmental Law Association in Toronto, where she worked on test case litigation, public legal education, and progressive reform of environmental legislation. Erica holds a joint Masters of Environmental Studies/J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School and spent summers with the Environmental Law Centre in Victoria and the Fundación de Estudios para la Aplicación del Derecho in El Salvador.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Erica prefers rain over snow unless she can ski on it. Besides skiing, she enjoys reading, travelling, camping, kayaking, and cycling. She wishes she liked surfing, but she’s just not cool enough.
