It was a surprise for me to roll into the lush landscape of Williams Lake on the Greyhound bus this morning after traveling the last leg of my bus and ferry journey from Haida Gwaii. Usually by this time of year the town is accented by hay-coloured weeds at the highway’s shoulder, and a constant haze of dust from Stampede traffic hangs in the hot afternoon air. If I hadn’t been told it had been raining all week I might have thought it followed me here from the coast.
Here we are, Orden Mack, myself and Doug Radies ogling over the beautiful fresh veggies from Glen Valley Organic Farms. Veggies nurtured by sediments from the headwatersof the Mighty Fraser. And the circle of life continues and our journey begins.
Tomorrow morning we head to Mount Robson Shadows to get set up before participants arrive on Thursday. I can’t wait to meet this year’s participants!
