Simon Zukowski, a graduate of the 2016 Sustainable Living Leadership Program, has been busy volunteering with the Fraser Headwaters Alliance (FHA) to raise awareness of the importance of the Goat River watershed. He has been working with the FHA on upgrades to the Goat River Trail and was recently successful in obtaining a grant for much-needed trail maintenance on the west side of the trail. The funding made brushing of an overgrown section of the trail possible, connecting the east and west halves of the trail for the first time in years. Together with Simran Lehal, also a 2016 SLLP graduate, Simon also set up information booths to promote the trail at the ArtsWells and Robson Valley music festivals, drawing much interest from the crowd.
