The Rivershed Society of BC organized a series of meetings with Fraser River stewards in 2008 called the Fraser Initiative. The purpose of the Fraser Initiative was to convene 55 NGO stewardship groups that are working on sustainability of the Fraser River Basin in order to get their perspectives on the issues/threats to the Fraser and to identify key remedial actions.
From that meeting, a document titled A Call for Leadership and Action was born. The original document (PDF) contains a list of the top ten isues/threats to the Fraser River Basin, as well as a list of key actions that can be taken to rectify the issues. The Rivershed Society of BC has updated the Call for Leadership and Action, for a list of the current issues and threats, see the Issues Affecting the Fraser section of our website.
